The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that Damascus has received Major General Adel Issa, a former officer in Bashar al-Assad's army, from Lebanese authorities. Issa was in charge of the 17th Division and the Deir ez-Zor forces, and he was detained in Lebanon based on a warrant of arrest issued in absentia by Lebanese judiciary, on charges related to murder, torture, inciting civil war, and sectarianism. Syrian authorities are currently planning legal proceedings, as the case is being considered by a Damascus court, with the aim of referring him to the criminal court.
