Federico De Marco, the left-back for Inter Milan, won the Serie A Player of the Year award for a successful season that saw Inter crowned champions, finishing 11 points ahead of Napoli. De Marco expressed his frustration over not renewing his contract with the club, despite signing with them for the sixth consecutive season and being a key part of the team's recent successes. He did not hint at a desire to leave, despite interest from Spanish club Barcelona, and hopes to continue with Inter, who announced the appointment of a new sporting director, Dario Baccin, succeeding Piero Ausilio. The season's awards also included Inter star Lautaro Martinez winning the Best Forward award, Luka Modric earning the Best Midfielder award, and Mael Sevilár being named Best Goalkeeper.
