A United Nations report states that the recruitment of foreign nationals and external support networks significantly contribute to escalating the conflict in Sudan, enhancing the military capabilities of both sides, and leading to more sophisticated attacks on civilians. The report documents that transnational entities operating from countries such as Colombia and the United Arab Emirates, through nations like Chad, Libya, and Somalia, are involved in training, smuggling weapons, and providing supplies to support the Rapid Support Forces, including the deployment of foreign fighters, such as around 2,000 former Colombian fighters. External support has led to the use of drones and military technology to carry out strikes on civilians and vital infrastructure, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians, including children, the destruction of healthcare facilities, severe human rights violations, and potential war crimes, thereby worsening the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
