The Turkish Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been opened against Ahmet Davutoğlu, former Turkish Prime Minister, on charges of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The allegations stem from statements he made on social media, which were considered insulting to the president. It is worth noting that Davutoğlu was one of the prominent politicians during the Justice and Development Party era, serving as Foreign Minister and Prime Minister before disagreeing with Erdoğan and founding the Future Party, which was dissolved in 2026 after failing in elections. This move comes within the context of Turkey's crackdown on critics of Erdoğan, with similar charges being brought against dozens of citizens.
