The Egyptian-Italian Committee was held for the first time in ten years to enhance cooperation between the two countries across multiple fields, including trade, investment, energy, transportation, and agriculture, despite previous challenges such as the murder of researcher Giulio Regeni. Officials emphasized the importance of developing economic relations, noting a 17% increase in Italian exports over the past six months, and continued collaboration on irregular migration issues through joint agreements aimed at reducing the number of illegal migrants and promoting employment for legal migrants. There was also a reaffirmation of the need to safeguard the security of maritime corridors, especially the Red Sea Strait, and to support political stability in the region to achieve mutual economic and political stability.
