The Public Prosecutor's Office in Ankara has opened an investigation against Ahmet Davutoğlu on charges of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, following the circulation of an old video showing sharp criticisms he directed at him during a meeting with citizens. In Davutoğlu's statements, Erdoğan was accused of corruption, looting of wealth, and appointing relatives to sensitive positions. Davutoğlu faces a potential prison sentence of up to four years under Turkish law. This investigation comes amid his long-standing disagreements with Erdoğan and his recent decision to dissolve his "Future" party and step away from politics, citing reasons such as "corruption" and the "corrupt political climate."
