The Egyptian government is seeking to expand the data center and artificial intelligence industries to attract investments and enhance the digital infrastructure. They are leveraging their geographical location and the submarine cable network passing through the country, which carries around 90% of data traffic between the East and West. Egypt has discussed with international partners—including the company "Heika Data" and an American coalition—plans to establish an integrated zone for large-scale data centers, with a focus on advanced technology and cloud computing. Egypt is considered one of the most suitable locations for establishing AI centers due to its facilities and resources. However, expansion requires substantial investments in energy, cooling, and telecommunications infrastructure. Additionally, the competition between the United States and China may accelerate efforts to attract investments and technological advancements into the Egyptian market.
