Nepal Tunnel Rescue After 9 Days
A man was rescued alive from a tunnel in Nepal after being held there for nine days due to the devastating floods that swept through the country, claiming the lives of more than 1,000 people. Authorities are now working to rescue another individual. Nepal also plans to update its early warning system for floods and landslides near the border with China by installing ground vibration sensors and cameras, in addition to a satellite communication system, to improve the speed of alerts and ensure notifications are sent even if phone networks fail.
