The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an investigation into Tesla's self-driving taxi, the "Cybertruck," to assess whether it meets federal safety standards despite lacking a steering wheel and pedals. This comes after Tesla announced approval of the vehicle and plans to expand its deployment across several states, even though the company has received assessments indicating that the vehicle complies with all safety requirements. These developments have raised questions about the reliability of autonomous approvals and government verification procedures.
