Pentagon leaks prompt lie detector tests
Internal investigations within the Pentagon revealed that approximately 50 members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff underwent lie detector tests following media leaks that exposed shortages in the U.S. stockpiles of essential weapons and ammunition, particularly long-range missiles and the Patriot system, as a result of the ongoing war with Iran. The measures aim to identify the source of the leaks and send a deterrent message to prevent further disclosures. This comes amid escalating distrust within the Department of Defense and criticism directed at Defense Secretary Pete Hyghith over policies of transparency and administrative performance, with some officials describing the reliance on lie detector tests as a first of its kind at this high level.
