The sudden floods that swept through Nepal and China last week resulted in the deaths of 1,375 people and the disappearance of more than 5,400 others. In Nepal, the death toll reached 1,344, with 4,898 missing, while in China, 31 people lost their lives and 531 went missing. The United Nations launched a campaign to raise $49.6 million to assist the affected populations, with a focus on providing aid before winter arrives in the mountainous regions. Rescue efforts are still ongoing, including successful operations to save two individuals after nine days of being trapped inside a water-surrounded tunnel.
