The article discussed American President Donald Trump's inclination to change the names of some geographic landmarks. He hinted at the possibility of renaming the state of New Mexico to "New America" after previously changing Lake Ontario to "America Lake" and the Gulf of Mexico to "America Gulf." Although Trump has the authority to change the names of bodies of water, changing the names of states requires procedures within the state itself, which cannot be done unilaterally. The New Mexico state official and many Democrats criticized this move, considering it a political distraction.
