Southern Lebanon has experienced an escalation in military activity by the Israeli occupation, which carried out airstrikes resulting in the death of 10 people and the injury of 7 others, despite increasing tensions and previous agreements to ceasefire. The strikes targeted residential buildings and several towns, including Kfar Rumman and Nabatieh, and led to the destruction of a hospital as well as damage to civilian facilities. Israel's response came after the launch of two drones by Hezbollah, although the party did not claim any direct targeting. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the escalation, calling on the international community to intervene and stop these violations, as airstrikes continue, having so far resulted in the death of more than 8,920 people since early October 2023.
