Switzerland upwardly revises 2026 growth to 1.7%

Switzerland has raised its economic growth forecast for 2026 to 1.7%, marking a stronger growth rate than previous estimates despite risks linked to rising energy costs due to the war with Iran. This update follows a 1.5% growth in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors during the second quarter, with projections indicating that growth could slow to 1.6% in 2027 if the slowdown continues. The ministry also indicated that external trade will contribute more significantly to growth, although it warned of rising inflation, energy prices, and the risk of increased U.S. tariffs, in addition to financial risks and global debt concerns.
