A report by Amnesty International documents the killing of 377 people during protests in Iran in 2022, most of whom fell victim to intense crackdowns carried out by security forces led by the Revolutionary Guard and police, based on strict orders aimed at responding to the demonstrators—including killings, torture, and enforced disappearances. The report clarified that the repression was particularly focused on Kurdish and Baloch minorities, who accounted for 62% of the victims, with political and ethnic discrimination leading to unlawful killings and torture. The organization called for accountability of the perpetrators through the establishment of an international mechanism to seek justice, considering these violations as crimes against humanity.
