A report indicates that the Houthi militia in Yemen has permitted the passage of all ships through the Red Sea strait, with the exception of Saudi vessels, which are not allowed to transit. Nonetheless, the militia has strengthened its military positions at the southern entrance of the sea, posing a threat to navigation in the area. This has a direct impact on the Suez Canal and Egypt's sources of foreign currency. Although shipping traffic has not completely halted, it had previously experienced a decline, and an escalation by the Houthis could cause significant disruption to maritime routes, affecting oil supplies and global trade. There are warnings that such escalation might disrupt the vital oil passage and the Saudi oil pipeline, thereby threatening the regional economy. Egypt is relying on diplomacy to confront the escalation and is closely monitoring developments, which could disrupt navigation and exert increased economic pressure on the region.
