Homelessness from Houthi attacks reaches 198,000
The article discusses the expanding scope of forced displacement in Yemen due to the military escalation by the Houthis. By the end of September, the official number of displaced families had reached approximately 29,519, comprising around 198,000 individuals. The majority are concentrated in the governorates of Taiz and Lahj, due to ongoing attacks and fighting. It is reported that most families leave their homes under harsh conditions and face significant challenges in accessing shelter, food, water, and healthcare services, while pressure on host communities continues to grow. The figures indicate that the wave of displacement is ongoing, and the relevant governmental units emphasize that humanitarian needs are substantial. There are urgent calls for providing aid and coordinating efforts to meet the requirements of affected families, especially those who have recently displaced without support.
