Pentagon Plans Large Buildup Near Iran
The U.S. military is preparing to send a significant military reinforcement to the Middle East, including three aircraft carriers, around 20,000 troops, and up to 150 fighters scheduled for November, as part of a plan to expand military options against Iran. These movements come amidst discussions within the Trump administration about the possibility of resuming bombing operations against Iran after the midterm elections. The war between the United States and Iran began in February 2026 and has seen intermittent exchanges of attacks. The troop buildup aims to strengthen U.S. military presence in the region, although some ships may serve as temporary replacements for previous units if a decision is not made to expand operations. Since the start of the conflict, over 800 soldiers have been injured and 19 have been killed.
