With the ongoing military escalation in Yemen entering its fourth month, the suffering of civilians is worsening, and the death toll is increasing. The government has recorded the killing and injury of over 610 civilians since September, amid the displacement of nearly 5 million Yemenis. Battles between government forces and the Houthi movement are leading to the destruction of areas and a rising number of displaced persons. Taiz Province ranks at the top regarding the number of internally displaced persons, hosting more than 97,000 individuals. The escalation is causing a deterioration in humanitarian conditions, with rising food insecurity that threatens to collapse entirely. Currently, 18.3 million people suffer from food insecurity, and more than 2.2 million children are suffering from severe malnutrition, amid a significant aid shortage and rising prices of basic goods. International warnings are sounding that the catastrophe could worsen further if the situation continues as it is.
