AI-powered missile raises questions

North Korea announced that it has launched a medium-range ballistic missile capable of changing its course at low altitude using artificial intelligence technology, without providing independent evidence of the nature of this technology or its accuracy. It confirmed that the missile, launched from Wonsan area, traveled more than 700 kilometers and was described as "strategic," testing its abilities to modify and control its trajectory via artificial intelligence. This raises questions about the extent to which AI is being developed for guidance systems and missile technology. However, despite the claim, there is no independent evidence to suggest that the missile "thinks" or selects its target automatically. The current understanding is based on previous uses of artificial intelligence in the development of drones and missiles, noting that the missile's ability to handle and change course does not necessarily mean it is utilizing AI independently.
