Yemen's Alimi Launches Military Campaign Against Houthis
The Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, announced the start of comprehensive military operations against the Houthi group to reclaim the territories they control. This comes after an escalation in the war and statements about neutralizing Houthi elements in previous security operations. Al-Alimi emphasized that the goal is to restore the state's authority over all Yemeni lands and to protect the sovereignty of the republic. He also called on the Houthis to lay down their weapons and return to their homes, asserting that these operations aim to liberate areas controlled by the Houthis and achieve national security stability. This move is part of an ongoing military escalation that began in July 2023, following a relative calm due to the ceasefire that started in April 2022.
