Israeli team to follow Irish example in Nations League
The Israeli Football Association announced that the Israeli national team will wear black armbands during their match against Ireland in the European Nations League, in honor of the October 7th attack, following approval from UEFA. Ireland had worn black armbands in the first leg as a protest against the war in Gaza. This comes three days before the anniversary of the attack that occurred in 2023. The match was marked by widespread controversy due to political tensions, and Irish coach Halgriemoson faced provocative questions from journalists about political issues unrelated to football. The press conference was unexpectedly cut short.
