FTSE Russell's Egypt move impacts stocks
Futures Rangesel has decided to remove Egypt from the watchlist due to the potential downgrade from a Secondary Emerging Market to a Frontier Market, while retaining its status within the Secondary Emerging Markets category. This decision follows an improvement in the Egyptian market's condition in terms of the number of eligible securities and market value, with the number of securities meeting the criteria increasing from one in 2024 to two by the end of 2025. Additionally, the market has surpassed standards related to quality and efficiency. The decision reflects renewed confidence in the Egyptian market, with the exchange reaffirming its ongoing efforts to deepen trading, broaden the investor base, and enhance technological and regulatory infrastructure.
