Britain detains soldier over espionage
A 24-year-old British Royal Navy sailor has been arrested on charges of espionage for a foreign entity, following an investigation by counter-terrorism police. It is alleged that between November 2024 and May 2025, he obtained and transmitted secret information with the intent to pass it on to an adversarial power, in violation of UK national security law. He was detained in London and brought before Westminster Magistrates' Court. He faces serious charges related to the disclosure and transfer of defence secrets, as part of broader investigations into the safety of UK national security.
