Italy reviews MTS bond purchase
The Italian government is studying the possibility of purchasing the European bond trading platform MTS from Euronext in order to maintain control over the Italian debt instruments market. It is expected that the state-owned Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Bank will buy Euronext's 63 percent stake, with estimates valuing it at around 600 million euros, while other shareholders will retain their shares. This move comes amid Meloni's concerns about losing national control over the bond market, as she seeks to strengthen Europe's market linkages while maintaining local oversight of high debt levels.
