Kurdistan Workers' Party pulls back from Turkey
The Kurdistan Workers' Party announced that it withdrew all its fighters from Turkish territory a few days ago, criticizing the Turkish government's negligence in the peace process that began in 2024. This withdrawal aims to end the armed struggle and engage in a democratic political effort. The fate of the party's leader, Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held on İmralı Island prison for 27 years, has not been determined, despite the party’s ongoing calls for his release and his role in advancing peace efforts. This development marks an important step in efforts to resolve the conflict that has claimed the lives of around 50,000 people over the past decades.
