Syria urges probe into Black Sea ship attack
Syria today called on the International Maritime Organization and the Bulgarian authorities to conduct an independent and transparent investigation into the sinking of the cargo ship "Alfa Watn" in the Black Sea. The ship was attacked at dawn on October 6 while it was in Bulgaria's economic zone. The incident resulted in the loss of 10 crew members, including 9 Syrians and one Egyptian sailor, whose fate remains unknown. Syrian authorities demanded that the circumstances of the incident be clarified, especially the reason for halting rescue operations before determining the fate of the missing persons, expressing their concern that the investigation has not yet identified those responsible.
