Netanyahu and Trump Criticize Bennett’s Peace Award
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Navi Pillay, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, calling her a "bigot" and an activist working to "demonize the Jews." This came after she criticized Israel and led the UN investigation committee that confirmed Israel was committing "genocide" in Gaza. The Israeli Foreign Ministry responded by accusing her of conspiring against Israel, considering that the Nobel Prize has been used as a means to damage the country's reputation. Conversely, U.S. President Donald Trump considered awarding her the Nobel Peace Prize an "insult," and the United States imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court, viewing it as a threat to American sovereignty. This move was criticized by the European Union and the International Criminal Court, who regarded it as an attack on the rule of law.
