Smotrich urges contesting court ruling on Jenin and Tulkarem
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called on the government to challenge the Supreme Court's decision regarding its request for the state to clarify the timeline for the return of residents to Jenin and Tulkarem camps. He considered that the court's rulings threaten Israel's security and allow for the reconstruction of militant infrastructure in northern the West Bank. The court requested the government to respond to the petition by November 23, 2026, and to review the procedures for the return of residents, which have not yet begun, due to the army's security concerns. Smotrich emphasized that national security decisions should remain in the hands of the elected leadership and called for ignoring the court's instructions.
