Bali Bağayouko: French mayor amid protests
The mayor of Saint-Denis, France, Bali Gagyoko, appeared during student protests in Paris, standing between protesters and police forces, making him a symbolic figure of the movement. His direct involvement sparked widespread debate about the role of radical leftism and the limits of his intervention in the protest, which demands improved educational conditions and reduced social inequality. Observers believe that his presence reflects a sense of political and moral responsibility, while he faces criticism for strengthening his position within the leftist party he belongs to. The protests have been escalating since late September, marked by acts of violence and calls for the government to take tangible measures to address educational and social decline.
