Ethiopian Troops Near Eritrea
The article discusses the Ethiopian forces and their allies advancing toward areas near the border with Eritrea, following the withdrawal of Eritrean troops and their support for the rebels in Tigray. This development increases the risk of a regional conflict erupting. Ethiopian forces have managed to control important areas such as Mekelle, while tensions continue to rise with Eritrean troops deployed along the border. Security and military sources warn that ongoing fighting and troop movements could lead to a serious regional escalation, especially given the deteriorating relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea, which had recently severed diplomatic ties. There are concerns that the region could spiral into a wider war.
