Yemen conflict cuts aid for 800,000
Yemen is facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to escalating fighting between the Houthis and government forces, with approximately 220,000 people displaced by the clashes. The war has led to the interruption of humanitarian aid for around 800,000 people, particularly in Taiz and other areas, amid worsening food security and shortages of basic supplies. Hospitals are suffering from a lack of equipment and medical supplies, with increasing numbers of injuries and hunger, alongside a significant rise in cholera cases, which further strains the long-declining healthcare system. The international program is calling for urgent funding to ensure continued aid and save lives, while the ongoing conflict threatens to lead to a more devastating humanitarian and epidemic disaster.
