Pakistan Crisis Escalates with Arrests and Fatality
Pakistan is facing a new escalation in the Imran Khan crisis, as violent clashes erupted between supporters of the "Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf" party and police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The clashes resulted in one death and injuries to others, along with widespread arrests. Police opened fire on protesters and used tear gas, while protesters responded by setting property on fire and detaining security personnel. The situation intensified after the imposition of an "administrative rule" and the declaration of a state of emergency in the region. There is widespread dissatisfaction with the economic conditions, and Khan and his legal team have rejected these measures. Meanwhile, Khan, who has been behind bars since August 2023, faces dozens of charges including corruption and treason.
