Netanyahu congratulates Sinwar amid shock footage
The Central Election Committee in Israel ordered the removal or modification of a forged video showing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking on the phone with Yahya Sinwar, the former leader of Hamas, congratulating him. This was done to ensure transparency regarding the use of digital media in electoral campaigning. The video, which depicts Netanyahu receiving warnings of an imminent attack before October 7, 2023, without taking any action, is part of an anti- Netanyahu campaign orchestrated by the Gadi Eisenkot Party aimed at influencing the upcoming elections scheduled for October 27. Efforts are ongoing to investigate the use of misleading digital content.
