Germany Convicts Two for Iran-backed Terror Plot
A court in Hamburg sentenced a Danish citizen to eight and a half years in prison, and his Afghan partner to four and a half years, on charges of planning terrorist attacks against Jewish figures and Israeli targets in Germany. They were also involved in spying on Jewish targets under Iranian directives. The defendants were recruited by Iran's intelligence agency to carry out state-sponsored terrorist activities, which included gathering intelligence on Jewish individuals and institutions and preparing potential attacks. The ruling comes amid growing German concerns over espionage and terrorism activities linked to Iran within the country.
