Iraqi Judiciary Chief Calls for Constitution Review
The invitation from the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council President, Faiq Zidan, to review the constitution and implement the necessary amendments aims to correct legal and interpretative problems that hinder the country's constitutional rights, including forming the government and electing the President of the Republic. It emphasizes the need to update legislation to strengthen the rule of law, unify the interpretation of texts, and address the conflicts that have caused the suspension of constitutional processes since 2005. This call is seen as a move towards establishing a new social contract that aligns with Iraq's political and constitutional aspirations and allows for greater stability within institutions.
