Fatwa as weapon in Olive War
The article describes the escalation of attacks carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season in the West Bank. These attacks are supported by political and religious backing, reinforced by a religious decree that permits harvesting olives from Palestinian lands, resulting in thefts, arson of crops, and violent clashes. The article also explains that this escalation is linked to economic and religious motives, with settlers promoting competitive prices on Palestinian olive oil. Moreover, Israeli authorities are reportedly concerned about security implications stemming from the incitement of religious rhetoric that fuels confrontations. Criticism has been directed at religious and political leaders regarding the worsening situation. These events occur amid ongoing assaults on Palestinian farmers and escalating tensions during the harvest season.
