Bassem Youssef Warns on Social Media Risks
Egyptian media personality Bassem Youssef warned that social media platforms can cause significant problems among the peoples of the region, as they can lead to escalation of disagreements and turn them into conflicts between countries and siblings. This happens due to the spread of content that incites hatred and amplifies minor disputes, some of which stem from normal reactions or jokes. He emphasized the importance of user awareness and cautioned against blindly following anonymous accounts that contribute to igniting strife. He affirmed that social media harms inter-population relations and widens disagreements, especially given the existence of factors that fuel ordinary crises.
