Dwarf galaxy puzzles scientists
The study reveals that the origin of the farthest fast radio burst ever detected is a small dwarf galaxy, whose mass is less than a thousandth of what was expected. Despite its small size, this galaxy is experiencing star formation activity. The burst was observed in March 2024 using the "Mercator" telescope in South Africa, and analysis from the "James Webb" telescope indicates that the galaxy emitting the burst is approximately 3 billion light-years from the Big Bang. Although the nature of these bursts remains not entirely understood, data suggest that their cause might be disturbances from collapsing stars, though precise scientific explanations are still under investigation.
