Japan conducts joint missile drills with US
For the first time, a type of long-range missile was publicly tested outside Japan's military base during joint military exercises between Japan and the United States. These were anti-ship missiles of the Type 25 model, deployed in the southern Kyushu region, aimed at verifying launch procedures and targeting warships. The exercises, which continue until October 29 and involve approximately 57,000 soldiers, come amid deteriorating relations between Japan and China and are among the largest bilateral drills between the two countries. Additionally, U.S. forces will deploy the NMESIS and MADIS systems in Okinawa to enhance rapid and flexible troop deployment capabilities in the region.
