Settler violence impacts West Bank olive harvest
The article highlights the increasing assaults by Israeli settlers on Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season in the West Bank. The Palestinian Anti-Wall and Settlement Authority documented at least 20 attacks across six governorates, including attacks on olive pickers, shooting, arrests, theft of crops and equipment, and vandalism of property. These assaults resulted in injuries to three Palestinians, the theft of more than 26,000 olive trees, and the destruction of cars and homes. Meanwhile, the World Food Programme warned that settler violence is worsening the hunger crisis, as food insecurity has more than doubled over the past three years, leading to a reduction in the number of Palestinians receiving food aid from one million to half a million. They called for increased international support and protection for farmers from these attacks.
