Muslim burns French flag amid protests
A photo and video purportedly showing a Muslim woman burning the French flag have spread on social media during protests and riots in France. However, investigations confirmed that the footage is old and dates back to a demonstration in the Moroccan city of Tangier in 2023. The research revealed that it had been previously circulated as being in Morocco, not France, and was taken out of context to suggest it was happening in France. The clip was misleadingly promoted by accounts with right-wing and Israeli motives to link the French protests to the Palestine issue, and it was used to incite attacks against Muslims and migrants. Nonetheless, investigations proved that the scene has no relation to the current protests in France.
