Egypt's motives for backing Saudi
The article discusses Egypt's support for Saudi Arabia amid the regional escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Egypt has expressed its readiness to provide all forms of support to protect the kingdom and ensure its stability, including military assistance if requested. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized that Egypt will not interfere in regional wars but will defend Saudi Arabia if its security is threatened. He clarified that the support could include intelligence coordination and participation in naval and aerial operations, while avoiding direct involvement in the ongoing Yemeni war. The goal of this support is to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and to ensure the safety of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, maintaining a balance between security commitments and avoiding direct military intervention in Yemen’s conflicts.
