Spain's Ceuta migrant backlog faces criticism
The article discusses the humanitarian crisis and irregular migration in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, where migrants, including families such as Fatina's family, face very difficult conditions, with limited access to mainland Spain to receive essential medical treatment. The Spanish government is facing both international and local criticism due to its hesitations in granting residence permits and the potential forcible deportation of migrants, which raises human rights concerns—especially for unaccompanied minors and minors. Additionally, government efforts to process asylum requests are slow, leading to thousands of migrants being stranded in overcrowded camps under harsh living conditions, amidst internal and European political pressures, incomplete deportation measures, and calls for more humane and responsible solutions that uphold migrant rights.
