Fatah and Hamas Talks in Cairo
The article discusses the efforts of the Fatah and Hamas delegations in Cairo to reach agreements aimed at achieving Palestinian reconciliation, especially following the Israeli Knesset elections. The two meetings addressed key issues including the reconstruction of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the future of employees, passport matters, and the consensus on a unified Palestinian national project. The Fatah delegation presented demands related to ending the division, establishing a unified system, and committing to peaceful resistance and political solutions in line with international legitimacy resolutions. Meanwhile, Hamas and other Palestinian factions expressed reservations regarding recognizing Israel, security coordination, and reaching a state based on the 1967 borders. The agreements require unified Palestinian approval, with Egypt prepared to host comprehensive dialogue, in an effort to unite the Palestinian ranks ahead of facing Israeli and international challenges.
