Egyptian president clarifies military support for Saudi Arabia
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed that Egypt's military support for Saudi Arabia is limited to defending its territory and borders. It does not include attacking Yemen or intervening outside Egypt and the Arab countries that request assistance. He pointed out that the military support aims to protect Saudi Arabia from Houthi attacks; if the Kingdom requests it, Egypt will provide military aid. Sisi also emphasized that Egypt does not seek to confront or attack any party, but only to defend the security and stability of Saudi Arabia. He indicated that the Egyptian parliament's decision to authorize such support is likely to be delayed until October 26. Iranian Foreign Minister considered that any Egyptian intervention in Yemen could complicate the situation, confirming that Egypt has stated it will not become involved in the Yemeni war, which has been ongoing for more than a decade and has intensified since the Houthis took control of parts of Yemen and launched attacks on Saudi Arabia.
