Egypt increases oil refinery capacity to 82%
Egypt increased refinery operation rates from 63% to 82% last year, following comprehensive and planned inspection and maintenance works. This contributed to meeting local market demands and reducing import bills. Officials explained that the government is working to improve the investment environment in the oil sector by offering incentives and facilitations, developing and increasing the flexibility of operational systems to support local production and reduce the gap between production and consumption. Additionally, a wide seismic survey program is being carried out in the Western Desert and the Gulf of Suez to enhance resource discovery. Measures are also being taken to ensure energy supply stability through long-term and short-term contracts with suppliers, along with diversifying logistical outlets at seaports in Ain Sokhna and the Mediterranean.
