Iraqi forces accuse Saddam's son-in-law of plotting assassination
The Iraqi National Security Agency was able to thwart a plot to assassinate its leader, Abdel Karim Al-Basri, and several officers by a cell affiliated with the banned Ba'ath Party. The cell was planning to carry out assassination operations targeting security officials in Baghdad before they could be executed. This was achieved through monitoring, dismantling the cell, and seizing evidence. Additionally, the agency carried out a targeted operation in Missan, resulting in the deaths of some of the most dangerous drug traffickers, including a main dealer of crystal meth who has been wanted since 2015.
