Is the Libya power-sharing plan nearing implementation
American moves regarding Libya have accelerated following the issuance of the structured dialogue recommendations under UN sponsorship, with a possible approach to implementing an American initiative aimed at reorganizing the country's executive authority. The initiative involves building understandings between the eastern and western authorities through a new power-sharing formula, including nominating Khalifa Haftar as the head of a new Presidential Council while maintaining Abdul Hamid Dbeibah as the head of a unified government. American diplomatic and military activities—such as meetings with military leaders and enhancing cooperation in the oil sector—demonstrate Washington’s efforts to reduce the country's divisions and achieve political consensus, despite the complex political challenges that may arise.
