Shakira scrutinized after Mexico City World Cup opening
Shakira participated in the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Mexico City with a live performance of the song "Dai Dai," featuring a Nigerian star, amid a large audience. However, some viewers noticed audio disruptions and interruptions during the live broadcast, sparking widespread debate about how her performance aligned with her usual standards. The controversy also extended to her modern appearance, with some considering that differences in her look or performance might be due to filming pressure or lighting conditions. Discussions continued about whether the real Shakira appeared on stage or if it was an impersonator, given her long-standing presence at the World Cup and her distinguished artistic performances since 2010.
